Sirsasana–headstand prep and techniques to kick up

I had so much fun teaching a yoga class tonight. We worked on shoulders and hips and built up to headstand prep with two blocks. Kicking up was optional but we all did, such a rush! Yoga class is a great place for people to work on poses that they never thought they would do. Sirsasana prep with two blocks is a great way to practice the flexibility and strength that leads up to headstand.

To make kicking up to headstand more stable, hold a chair so that the student can have their back against the wall and feet on the chair seat, in half headstand. From here the student can practice lifting one leg at a time into headstand. This method works well when spotting students with bigger bodies.
