Virasana (Hero’s Pose) aka torture for us stiff students.

Plus size students are just like everyone else in virasana—some are very tight and others can just sit down with no support. Yogis with large pelvises will be much more supported if they have a wider seat to sit on—I use two blocks side by side instead of one. When I only use one, I grip slightly with my muscles and am unable to settle into the pose. More tight students could use four or six blocks to start to work into the pose.

Use a blanket to under the knees and ankles to make the pose more comfortable.

Feel the support under your sit bones as you lengthen the spine.

A bolster between the calves and hips provides a comfortable seat for some students, place a block long ways between the ankles to support the bolster.

Use a blanket to sit on to make the pose more comfortable.

If the student has knee problems, use lunge with a chair and knee on a bolster instead, just remember to switch sides.
